Like the whole of the Netherlands, the Green Heart faces a major challenge. There is much work to do when it comes to circularity, energy transition, climate and labor participation. This will only succeed if municipalities and entrepreneurs work together.
Making work of sustainable and social entrepreneurship
Stichting De Groene Pluim encourages entrepreneurs throughout the Netherlands to do sustainable and socially responsible business. Not by controlling them, but by rewarding them! To qualify for such a pluim, a company or organization goes through an audit conducted by experts, with four selected United Nations Global Goals (SDG´s) providing guidance. Awarding the Green Plume to these companies sets an example. This is necessary, because entrepreneurs consider sustainable business “the most normal thing in the world” and are often unaware of the broad social vision they have.
