In the Green Heart, the manufacturing industry, construction and agriculture/livestock farming are increasingly working towards a circular economy through cooperation in the fields of bio-based and circular construction, fiber-rich cultivation as a new revenue model and a “waste-is-resource” approach.
- Businesses (sites) play a crucial role in this transition. There are many opportunities and innovations for companies to utilize or even avoid residual streams more effectively and high value, thus playing a leading role in the transition to circularity.
- Municipalities in the region are increasingly focusing on circular procurement policies, a spatial-economic strategy with a circular component (environmental law as a basis), the establishment of construction and fiber hubs and waste-is-resource policies. In addition, several circular craft centers have already been developed for the reuse of consumer goods, working together and thus contributing to a more sustainable processing of raw materials in an inclusive manner.
All these initiatives require the combined efforts of businesses, governments, knowledge/education and residents to find solutions and achieve economies of scale. With additional benefits such as a lower impact on the environment and climate, greater security of supply, more local production chains, employment and welfare for residents of the Green Heart.
Provincie Zuid-Holland and Het Platform Groene Hart Werkt would like to take a role in this transition and work with you to create and complete a Circular Economy (CE) Action Plan.
In March 2024, the Province of South Holland and Platform Groene Hart Werkt issued a call for tender to 4 agencies to provide guidance in the realization of a supported regional Action Plan.
KplusV was awarded the contract.
Three working sessions from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. will work on this Action Plan:
| April 16, 2024 | Discuss ambitions and Region SWOT | Location: Stadskant, Agnietenstraat 19, Gouda |
| April 24, 2024 | Working out lines of action, coalition building, broad working session | Location: TechnoHub, Industrieweg 2b, Woerden |
| May 21, 2024 | Presentation Action Plan, organization | Location: Hoornbeeck College, Noordelijk Halfrond 10, Gouda (2 hours)
|
The goal is to come up with a concrete Action Plan that will accelerate the transition to a circular economy at the regional level and complement/reinforce other initiatives in the Green Heart. With a clear focus, based on data and interviews and aimed at learning, innovating and scaling up! Ongoing initiatives/coalitions can be brought in during the working sessions and new coalitions will get a chance to realize their projects within the focus areas.
So come to the working sessions on April 16, 24 and May 21, 2024 and make sure as a government, entrepreneur or educational institution that your circular projects will be extra supported in the coming years by Province of South Holland and the Platform Groene Hart Werkt.
